Canelo Alvarez has net worth 100 times bigger than UFC star Charles Oliveira

Canelo Alvarez is undoubtedly one of the most lucrative stars in boxing as he heads into his bout with Dmitry Bivol.

The undisputed super middleweight champion faces a new challenge this weekend as he battles the Russian in the ring with Canelo looking to seize the WBA title, which Bivol has held since 2017. Both fighters have impressive records behind them but there is no doubting the incredible net worth that Canelo has amassed in his career.

Such is the amount of money the fighter has to his name, it is vastly more than another top fighter in the form of UFC champion Charles Oliveira. According to Celebrity Net Worth, it is estimated that Canelo is worth around $140million (£113m).

While most of the money has come from his exploits inside the ring, his investments in real estate has also boosted his fortune. "I already have enough to retire right now, thank God,” he said as he gave Graham Bensinger a tour of his Guadalajara mansion.

“From everything that I have invested, every three months I have between four and five million dollars that I receive."

In comparison Oliveira – the current king of the UFC Lightweight division – has also seen his net worth grow. To many of us the Brazilian has plenty of money to his name but it pales into insignificance when compared to that of Canelo.

He is reportedly worth around $1.3million (£1m) according to Net Worth Ranks. That estimate takes into account the likes of his cars, houses, real estate as well as his earnings from his fights.

The Brazilian fighter had previously spoken out about not getting a large chunk of his paydays early on in his career. Back in May 2021, he said: “We don’t actually get $50,000, we end up with $15,000 or $20,000. Not to mention that I live in Brazil, so I need to transfer my fight earnings from the U.S to Brazil and exchange the currency which means paying more fees.

“Then I need to pay my trainers, supplements, it’s complicated. People think that I am rich, but I’m not. I will still become rich, get a share of the pay-per-view, I am now at a level where I can make serious money.”

While both fighters are currently at the top of their game it’s the UFC man who has a lot of catching up to do if he is to match the level of wealth currently enjoyed by Canelo.
