Sergio Ramos rejected tickets from Conor McGregor for his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas – and the Irishman admitted that he didn't know who the Spaniard had signed for.
The Irishman has been busy preparing for his UFC 264 matchup against his lightweight rival Poirier, and also wasn't aware that Spain had been knocked out of the Euro 2020 semi-finals.
The 32-year-old, who detailed his love for Manchester United earlier in the year, has grown a friendship with former Real Madrid skipper Ramos on social media in recent years.
The iconic defender would no doubt have been overjoyed by the offer of tickets to watch Notorious in action, but was forced to say no following his recent free transfer to PSG.
After being told that Spain had been beaten by Italy on penalties during the semi-final, McGregor was asked "who his friend was again" that plays for the national team.
After confirming that his friend is their captain Ramos, who missed the tournament following concerns over an ongoing injury, McGregor revealed details of his offer.
He said: "We actually got him tickets (for the fight) got him tickets yeah.
"He messaged me today saying that he's signing for a new club and he's not going to be able to make it. He thought he had more time. He had the tickets.

McGregor then added: "Who is he signing for? Signing for something new or something?"
Before that chat, the Irishman smiled after being told that England could yet make the final, laughing when one of his team suggested that they would never hear the end of it.
During that the Euro 2020 conversation with his photographer Dave Fogarty, McGregor was getting his hair cut for the fight and had his feet resting in an ice bath.
That came before he went face-to-face with Poirier at the press conference with Dana White, even kicking out at Diamond following a flurry of trademark insults.
McGregor promised his opponent: "You're getting walked like a dog in that octagon.
"This is my bread and butter, this is what wakes me up in the morning with fire in my belly. Errors to correct, tactics to prepare for, I've had a great camp and a great focus on the opponent."
