Daniel Dubois has thanked Tyson Fury for praising the youngster’s ability after the undefeated talent was compared to Ivan Drago by the Gyspy King – but the 22-year-old doesn’t know who the film legend is.
Dubois has proved an exceptional talent in his 14 professional outings, earning a number of highlight reel knockouts already in his young career as he looks to make his mark on the heavyweight division.
Fury, who shares the same promotor as Dubois, Frank Warren, heaped praise on the London-born fighter, comparing his punching power to that of Drago, the fearsome rival of Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV.

Although the 22-year-old says he doesn’t need outside praise to boost his confidence, he thanked Fury for his comment, but admitted he doesn’t know who Drago is.
‘I don’t know who Ivan Drago is,’ Dubois told The Mirror. ‘But it’s nice when someone like Tyson Fury praises you.
‘He’s someone I like as a fighter. He beat the man in Wladimir Klitschko to become world champion the first time and then he beat Deontay Wilder to do it again.

Dubois says his confidence is high and is thankful for the praise despite not knowing of Drago
‘It doesn’t boost me, though. I don’t need people to say nice things about me to boost my confidence. I’m confident in my ability and what I can achieve if I continue to work hard and listen to those around me.’
Dubois has wins against Nathan Gorman, Ebenezer Tetteh and Kevin Johnson on his record as he heads into his next bout against Ricardo Snijders at the BT Sport studios on Saturday night.
The young Briton is expected to come through this contest with ease as he prepares for his October 24 showdown with fellow Brit Joe Joyce.
