Inside Dana White and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s private meeting on UFC fight island

Dana White and Khabib Nurmagomedov have got tongues wagging in UFC over their private meeting on Fight Island.

The Russian announced his retirement from fighting in October after beating Justin Gaethje to defend the Lightweight Championship.

But there has been speculation that the return of Conor McGregor to the Octagon – coming on January 24 against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 – could spark a rematch.

White even teased this during a press conference earlier this week, saying: “Right now, he [McGregor] is as focused as he's ever been.

“I don't know if this is going to be the same Conor after the Poirier fight, but if this Conor sticks around for the next year, how do you not do Khabib vs Conor again?”

And images have now emerged of the UFC chief meeting Khabib on Fight Island – the same place McGregor will face Poirier in the rematch.

Sharing the video on his Twitter channel on Friday evening, White and Khabib’s teams can be seen hugging.

And the pair clasp each others’ shoulders before making their way to a room that has two chairs and a sofa in it.

The door closes before the camera can get in the room – but the Russian shared images on Instagram from the meeting.

Posting on his Instagram story, the 32-year-old smiles into the camera before flipping round to White.

But the video is over before it has even started as the UFC chief stares sternly at the camera.

After sharing White’s video, Khabib can then be seen in a night club smiling together.

  • Conor McGregor's private message leak left UFC chief Dana White in a "bad place"

Accompanying the video, The Eagle writes “we drink tea not whisky because of” before tagging former UFC champ Matt Serra, who currently co-hosts the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

He can be seen with the pair in the club, suggesting they could be discussing a big announcement.

And this is backed up with a post by UFC on Friday of Khabib and White at a UAE Warriors event, promoting the next episode of the “Looking for a Fight” show.

The Russian is expected to have McGregor in his sights, having defended the Lightweight Championship against The Notorious in October 2018.
