Jake Paul vows to knock "broken" Conor McGregor out in first round if pair meet

Jake Paul has called Conor McGregor "broken" and vowed to knock him out in the first round if the pair ever meet in the UFC octagon.

Paul, 25, has so far only ventured into the boxing ring, where he is 5-0 as a professional. But he has frequently teased the prospect of switching to MMA, calling out former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor on multiple occasions, although the bout could also take place under boxing rules.

The outspoken YouTuber dangled the carrot of a blockbuster bout between the pair once more during an interview with TMZ. "Conor is on a downhill spiral," he said, before taking aim at the Irishman and the injury he sustained against Dustin Poirier.

"His limbs are all broken," he continued. "So, stand-up game, I'm coming out and knocking him out, first round." McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg against Poirier in their trilogy bout, although he is now on the comeback trail.

"If I win, then Dana has to increase the minimum of fighter pay," Paul said. "If I lose, then they can take all of the money and whatever and so be it. But, I know I can beat Conor."

It is not the first time Paul has called out McGregor over a potential dust-up – and it almost certainly won't be the last. Last month, the social media star said he was willing to travel to Ireland to fight the UFC legend.

"I want to fight Conor McGregor. I will fight him in a boxing ring in Ireland," Paul claimed, attempting to tease McGregor into the ring for the second time, five years after his defeat to Floyd Mayweather.

"That's partially how this boxing journey started, I made up my mind that I was going to get a fight McGregor and win it," he added.

McGregor has so far resisted attempts from Paul to set up a bout between the two of them, although he did show what he thought of the YouTuber after he criticised his fighting technique earlier this month.

After The Notorious pulled on a pair of gloves and posted a clip of himself hitting the pads, Paul tweeted: "I would KO Conor in boxing or MMA. Right hand of God." McGregor responded by calling him a "jackass" and switching off his phone.

Even if a long-anticipated fight between the two doesn't happen, there's still a good chance Paul tries his hand at MMA for the first time regardless. He told TMZ that he has been in talks with with Bellator and PFL – "and other MMA entities" – to try and work out a deal to fight in a cage.
