Mike Tyson tried to fight Michael Jordan at dinner party due to his ex-wife

It's never nice seeing your ex-girlfriend with another man but if that guy is former heavyweight king Mike Tyson, you better run.

That's what NBA icon Michael Jordan found out when he dated Tyson's ex-wife Robin Givens and clashed with Tyson at a dinner party.

The two are legends in their own right with Tyson still the youngest man to ever win a heavyweight title, while Jordan racked up six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.

Crossover fights between two sports stars are common these days and this one almost happened in a dash across a room full of celebs from the NFL and baseball.

Rory Holloway, Tyson's former manager, revealed the incident in a book he co-wrote called Taming the Beast: The untold story of Mike Tyson.

The attempted scrap took place at a Chicago restaurant, weeks after Tyson and his actress wife Givens had divorced in 1989 after two years of marriage.

According to Holloway, Tyson marched over in a jealous rage because he knew Jordan had dated Givens in the past.

A fight was the last thing on Jordan's mind.

"Jordan looks like he just seen a ghost," Holloway wrote. "‘I know you messed with her,’ Mike says, ‘You can tell me’.

"Jordan, it’s obvious he just wants to get up and run. He wants no part of this."

Tyson's controversial advisor Don King tried to distract the boxer while Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka held back the "baddest man on the planet."

“Mike telling everyone he’s going to bust Jordan’s a**," Holloway continued.

"Jordan’s dressed sharp as always and he can’t get out of there fast enough."
