Tommy Fury says Marsellos Wilder 'can get it' in potential future bout

Tommy Fury says Marsellos Wilder ‘can get it’ – like his older brother Deontay did in heavyweight defeat by Tyson – as cruiserweight reveals he’s open to fighting American in the future

  • Deontay Wilder lost his WBC heavyweight world title to Tyson Fury in February
  • Both boxers have younger brothers, Marsellos Wilder and Tommy Fury, who fight
  • Cruiserweight Tommy Fury says he would fight Marsellos one day in the future

Wilder versus Fury III could be on the cards, but not as we know it with the younger brothers of both potentially going head-to-head in the future.

Deontay Wilder has been calling out Tyson Fury for a trilogy bout after losing his WBC heavyweight crown to him with a seventh-round stoppage on February 22 in Las Vegas. That was the rematch after the initial fight in December 2018 ended as a draw.

Fury has so far ignored those pleas, with the ‘Gypsy King’ set to defend his belt at the Royal Albert Hall on December 5, against Agit Kabayel, before fighting WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Anthony Joshua twice next year.

However, we could still see a member of the Fury clan go up against the Wilder family with cruiserweight Tommy Fury open to the prospect of fighting Marsellos Wilder one day.

Fury, who is fighting on Friday against Lithuanian Genadij Krajevski on the undercard of Mark Heffron vs Denzel Bentley, told The Sun: ‘I don’t want to look past Friday’s opponent but, if his brother wants the same as Deontay got, then he can get it.

‘I see a lot of people tweeting about wanting to fight me but I never saw that before I went into Love Island so I know what they are after.

‘If Marsellos Wilder is one of those then I will happily oblige.

‘My advice for him would be to keep quiet and stay in America where he can try to help his brother recover from what Tyson did to him, fair and square.’

Tommy Fury, 21, currently boasts a 3-0 record, while Marsellos Wilder, 31, has won six and lost two fights as a professional.

Tommy Fury is 3-0 as a professional fighter and hopes to extend that record to 4-0 on Friday
