World’s strongest man Tom Stoltman picks winner of Eddie Hall vs Thor Bjornsson

The strongest man on the planet has revealed his colours ahead of the upcoming 'heaviest boxing fight in history' between strongman rivals Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson.

The two giants are set to swing at one another to settle a long-running grudge stretching back to their days competing against one another in competitions around the world.

Things got really heated at the 2017 World's Strongest Man (WSM), when Hall won the contest in which Bjornsson made several protests over what he claimed was biased refereeing.

The Beast had also set a new deadlift world record of 500kg, but Thor had the last laugh by going on to better that total and winning the 2018 WSM.

Both have now taken a step back from competing in strongman at the highest levels, but the feud between them rumbles on.

They were due to settle their differences with a boxing match last September, but Hall was forced to pull out of the event after tearing his bicep.

The fight is now set to take place in March, though the exact date and venue are yet to be announced.

Tom Stoltman won the 2021 WSM competition and says he is a fan of both of his former fellow strongman competitors.

But, when asked by Star Sport who he would back to win, he threw his considerable weight behind fellow Briton Hall.

Who will win the fight between Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson? Have your say in the comments section.

"I like both of them, but I've always said I think Eddie Hall is going to win it," Stoltman, a Reign Total Body Fuel ambassador, said.

"Thor has cut down and he looks amazing, but I think Eddie was fighting when he was younger as well and has that background of naturally knowing when to strike. I think he's got a good jaw as well!

"If Thor has the reach he'll knock Eddie out, but Eddie said he doesn't want to lose it and he will do anything not to lose. He'll probably go to his deathbed before he loses that one!"

Stoltman's brother Luke, who finished 7th at WSM last year and is the reigning Europe's Strongest Man champion, was more reluctant to pick a side – instead choosing to focus on the benefits he believes the bout will bring to his sport.

"I'll sit on the fence – I'm not saying who I want to win," the elder of the Scottish brothers said. "I think it's a great thing, though. It just shows you the possibilities.

"Five years ago that was never a possibility for a strongman to do that, and now it just shows how the world is a smaller place now and there are so many more opportunities for us.

"It's very nice to see the possibilities out there and Eddie and Thor are certainly paving the way in that respect."
