Fantasy Injury Updates: Allen Lazard, Deebo Samuel, Kenny Golladay, more impacting Week 10 WR rankings

While the RB position is worse for wear than the WR position in fantasy football, there are still several key wideouts who are dealing with injuries. Notably, Allen Lazard, Deebo Samuel, and Kenny Golladay have missed time in recent weeks, while Mike Williams to a hard shot at the end of the Chargers’ loss to the Raiders. These players are all normal starts for fantasy owners, so needless to say, their availability will have an impact on our Week 10 WR rankings and start ’em, sit ’em decisions.

WEEK 10 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Is Allen Lazard playing this week?

Lazard (core) was questionable for the Packers’ last game against the 49ers, but ahead of the Thursday Night Football contest, he was ruled out. That said, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported that Matt LaFleur said Lazard was “really close” to a return in the lead-up to that game, so it’s fair to assume that with 10 days between games, Lazard should be able to play, barring a setback.

Against a weak Jaguars defense, Lazard should be a rock-solid WR3 with upside. We’ll keep an eye on him in practice but again, barring a setback, he should be ready to go.

Is Deebo Samuel playing this week?

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said last Friday that there was “a chance” that Samuel (hamstring) would play in Week 10. However, Samuel missed 49ers practice on Wednesday, so it looks like he may need extra time to return to action.

If Samuel can’t improve his condition in the coming days, the 49ers will sit him and roll with Brandon Aiyuk and either Kendrick Bourne (COVID) or Richie James as their top two receivers. Aiyuk could be a volume-based WR1 in a solid matchup against the Saints, as the 49ers will look to get him the ball early and often in that contest.

WEEK 10 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Is Kenny Golladay playing this week?

Golladay (hip) missed last week’s game for the Lions and was unable to practice on Wednesday. If he can’t get back on the field Thursday, then he will probably miss another game.

Golladay’s status will bear watching, but if he’s out, Marvin Jones will once again be the Lions’ No. 1 receiver. Detroit has a matchup with a Washington defense that has been good against receivers this year, so Jones won’t rank too highly, but he and Danny Amendola (PPR) will definitely be candidates to start in lineups this week given their potential target share.

WEEK 10 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em

Is Mike Williams playing this week?

Williams took a massive shot at the end of the Chargers’ last-second loss to the Raiders in Week 9, but it appears that he will be okay. Williams wasn’t listed on the Chargers’ injury report as of Wednesday, so it appears that he was just shaken up on the penultimate play.

With Williams looking fine for Week 10, he will be a potential WR3 given his TD and contested-catch upside despite a tough matchup against the Dolphins top-notch secondary. As long as Justin Herbert keeps throwing him the ball, Williams will have a chance to out-jump defensive backs to bring in long catches.
