It’s anyone’s guess what the free-agent market will look like this winter given the potential that many teams will be cutting costs after an abbreviated, fan-less 2020 campaign. The free-agent class also lost what would have been its biggest star when Mookie Betts agreed to a $365 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers before the season began.
Pending free agents usually have six months to show potential suitors what they have to offer, but this season provides only 60 games. With just more than half of the season completed, let’s look at the big-name players who have helped or hurt their free-agent cases the most.
