NRL 2022 LIVE updates: Brisbane Broncos v Cronulla Sharks at Suncorp Stadium

  • 1 of 1

Battle royale

It will be almost as good as when Hulk Hogan took on Andre The Giant in Wrestlemania III when Kotoni Staggs and Siosifa Talakai come together tonight. Talakai has gone from borderline NRL player to Origin hopeful over the first seven rounds. Tonight he battles exciting Brisbane centre Staggs.

If the Broncos are to cause an upset in this one, Staggs needs to win this battle.

Team news

The Broncos are 1-17. The same cannot be said about the Sharks.

In great news for league fans, Wade Graham will play his first match since round 14 of last year via the interchange bench. The spot in the 17 he’ll take opened up with Dale Finucane to miss out due to what the Sharks said was “calf tightness”.

Cameron McInnes will start at lock in Finucane’s position. In a like-for-like swap, Royce Hunt will start the match with Aiden Tolman moving back to the bench.

Welcome one and all

Hello sports fans,

Welcome to Round 8 of the NRL season. To start things off tonight we have the high-flying Sharks in Brisbane taking on the Broncos. Cronulla look every bit a top-four side after seven rounds, with rookie coach Craig Fitzgibbon doing a great job. He must be wondering what’s so hard about this coaching caper.
