NRL player sanctioned for toilet sex tape

The NRL has fined a Parramatta Eels player $5000 after footage emerged of him engaged in sex with a woman in a public toilet cubicle.

The four-second video circulated around social media last week, with the Eels later confirming one of their players was involved.

“We understand that those on the video have been illegally filmed by another person without consent and that an attempt has been made to distribute the video to media outlets and on social media platforms,” the club said in a statement.

According to The Australian, the woman at the centre of the video is believed to be preparing to launch legal action against the person who filmed the video without her consent.

The NRL released a statement on Wednesday afternoon confirming they had issued the player with a breach notice alleging he brought the game into disrepute.

The league also offered to assist in any criminal action taken by the unnamed Eels player.

“All players are public figures and have a responsibility to ensure their actions do not risk damaging the brand and reputation of the game. In this circumstance, the NRL believes the player failed in that responsibility,” the statement read.

“The NRL accepts the player is the alleged victim of an illegally filmed video and is offering both welfare support and assistance if he wishes to pursue criminal action against the individual who filmed the video.

“The NRL has determined the player did not breach any other NRL rule nor is there any complaint about the conduct of the player.

“The player has five days to respond to the NRL Breach Notice.”

Neither the Eels or the player are yet to respond to the breach notice.
