Melbourne Storm skipper Cameron Smith has been charged for a dangerous throw on Dylan Brown in his side’s 36-24 win over the Parramatta Eels.
The match review committee decided Smith’s 48th-minute tackle on Dylan Brown was worthy of a grade one charge, which attracts 100 demerit points.
Smith can reduce that amount to 75 points, and be able to play in the preliminary final if he enters an early guilty plea.

Storm rally to beat the Eels
NRL: The Melbourne Storm have earned a week rest after defeating the Parramatta Eels in their qualifying final clash.
LATE MAIL: All the latest team news and ins and outs for week 1 of the finals
CASUALTY WARD: All the latest injury news and return dates from the finals
That decision would leave Smith with 75 carry-over points, so he would want to be on his best behaviour or risk missing out on a grand final.
Meanwhile Eels forward Marata Niukore will need to secure a not-guilty verdict at the judiciary to avoid a two-match ban.
A grade one crusher tackle charge coupled with a previous similar offence in the last two years extends his suspension for an early guilty plea to two matches.

If Parramatta enter an early guilty plea, they would have to make the grand final for Niukore to be able to play again this season.
The two other charges on Saturday will result in fines for Sharks duo Sione Katoa and Siosifa Talakai.

The Panthers received a blow, with star forward Viliame Kikau potentially set to be ruled out of the preliminary final due to a tip tackle on Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
Kikau was charged with a grade one dangerous throw for a first-half tackle in his side’s 29-28 win over the Roosters.
The charge would see him serve a one-game suspension if he entered an early guilty plea or if he is found guilty at the judiciary.
Niukore’s nasty crusher
NRL: Marata Niukore could be facing a nervous wait with the judiciary after this nasty crusher tackle placed him on report.
The club have decided to fight the charge at the judiciary because they don’t risk any further suspension if they fight the charge and lose.
Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is facing a fine after being charged with a careless high tackle on Panthers No.1 Dylan Edwards.
The grade one charge and a prior similar offence to his name means Waerea-Hargreaves will be hit with an $850 fine if he pleads guilty.
