Trent Alexander-Arnold has hailed James Milner as the epitome of fitness at Liverpool, and admitted he has only seen one teammate keep up with the veteran in pre-season.
Jurgen Klopp is notoriously hard on his players in the run up to a new campaign, handing out regular beastings to get their fitness up to scratch.
First-team stars are often required to complete numerous tests on the first day of pre-season, which Milner usually aces while the rest of his teammates lag behind.
But Alexander-Arnold revealed that one forgotten man would always provide the 34-year-old with stern opposition.
Asked who had the biggest 'engine' he had come across in football, the Reds' full-back told Goal : "James Milner, easily!
“We are a fit team, there are a lot of players who have great engines – Hendo [Jordan Henderson], Gini [Wijnaldum], Robbo [Andy Robertson]. But Milly, I don’t think I’ll ever see anyone as fit as him.
"I remember a few years ago [ex-Liverpool midfielder] Kev[in] Stewart would give him a run for his money in pre-season, but considering his age and how long he’s played for, to still be the fittest player in arguably the fittest team in the world, and by some margin, that takes some doing. It has to be Milly."
Stewart, 27, has since moved on, signing for Hull in 2017 after making only a handful of appearances for Liverpool, and is now without a club following his release in the summer.

Meanwhile, Milner is approaching a potential crossroads in his own career.
After playing a big role in the club's Champions League success of 2019, Milner was used less pivotally last season and, in spite of his stellar conditioning, has started just two games so far in this campaign.
He is still contracted to Liverpool until 2022, but given his advancing years and limited playing time, Milner may well be considering his options.
