He made a dig at the Liverpool boss following their 2-1 loss to the Reds on Sunday afternoon

Speaking after Tottenham’s loss to Liverpool on Sunday, Conte sarcastically said: ‘Before I answer the [first] question, Jurgen was happy with the way that we played tonight? Yeah? It was important to know his opinion.

‘Jurgen is a really good coach but at the end tonight we are talking about a defeat and I’m happy with the game that we played at Anfield. The final result was 1-1 and it was better.’

Conte’s comments came after Klopp criticised Tottenham’s style of play following their draw with Liverpool in May.

Klopp attracted the ire of Conte when he said ‘I don’t like this kind of football’ and that a ‘world-class’ Spurs team ‘should do more for the game’.

Speaking after their 1-1 draw in the summer, Klopp said: ‘I am sorry, I am the wrong person to ask about because I don’t like this kind of football.

‘But that is my personal problem. I think they are world-class and I think they should do more for the game.’

The German manager did apologise soon after. He said: ‘As managers, and I had this experience recently, after a game we are obviously… we are massively influenced by the game, the situation and stuff like this.

‘Would I say it again? No. I said after the game, ‘They play like they play and are still only fifth’. It felt good in that moment but anyway [it was] wrong.

Conte said that Sunday’s result against Liverpool was an unfair reflection of the game

‘But it was just my feeling in that moment. I could not respect Antonio more, what he is doing and how he organises teams.’

Conte also shared his opinion on Sunday’s game shortly after the final whistle as he claimed the result was ‘unfair’ on Tottenham.

He said: ‘It is difficult to explain the defeat tonight, we deserved much more but also after the first half in the dressing room I was happy with the desire and what we did.

‘We put a lot of pressure on Liverpool and were 2-0 down but we didn’t know why. In the second half, we played really well. Their goalkeeper made good saves and we hit the post and the crossbar. I think the result is unfair.’
