Arsenal director Edu has identified Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski as one to watch in the January transfer window after failing to tempt Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic into a mid-season switch to the Emirates Stadium, according to reports. The Gunners are said to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements ahead of the new year, with Mikel Arteta keen on adding further quality to his ranks to prepare for the Premier League run-in.

Vlahovic has been linked with a move to Arsenal since the beginning of the summer after establishing himself as one of Europe’s finest young strikers with Fiorentina.

The 21-year-old, who is also said to be on Tottenham’s radar, has already managed 10 goals in all competitions this season.

Arsenal have reportedly been trying to gauge Vlahovic’s interest in joining the club in recent weeks after earmarking the Serbian forward as an attractive January option.

However, their hopes of landing the Fiorentina man appear to be slim, with his representatives said to be refusing to answer calls from the Gunners.

It seems as though Edu has already moved on from Vlahovic, with the Arsenal chief now set to channel his efforts into engineering a move for Kulusevski.

The north London club are interested in launching a mid-season bid to land the out-of-favour Juventus star, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Kulusevski is under contract in Turin until the summer of 2025, but has been linked with a move elsewhere amid his lack of action in recent months.

The Swedish forward, who is usually deployed out wide, has only started two matches in Serie A this season and would reportedly be open to assuming a more prominent role at a new club.

He is currently averaging just 32 minutes per game, with nine of his 11 league appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench.

Arsenal have enjoyed a remarkable surge up the Premier League table in recent weeks and could reap the rewards of a move for Kulusevski as they gear up for the business end of the season.

Arteta is said to be keen on adding support for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who have managed to score five Premier League goals between them, in January.

However, Kulusevski is also said to be a potential target for Tottenham, with Fabio Paratici believed to be a keen admirer of the 21-year-old.

The Spurs director was involved in negotiating his move to Juventus from Atalanta in January of last year.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will be able to land Kulusevski at the turn of the year or if they will be forced to chase one of their other reported targets.

Arsenal have also been credited with a desire to sign the likes of Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri and Club Brugge winger Noa Lang in recent months as the January window nears.

They were the Premier League’s biggest spenders over the summer, shelling out close to £150million on new players in pre-season.
