Arsenal have the chance to repeat the transfer trick that saw them land Real Madrid prodigy Martin Odegaard for a bargain price in the summer. The Gunners have enjoyed a good season so far, going unbeaten since the first international break of the campaign to rise to sixth in the Premier League.

At the heart of their good form has been their summer signings, one of which was Odegaard, who returned to the Emirates Stadium.

The Norwegian had spent a six month-long loan spell at Arsenal in the second half of last season, having fallen out of favour at Madrid.

He made just three La Liga starts under Zinedine Zidane before his January transfer window switch to the Gunners.

That move has helped to revive his stuttering career though, with Odegaard becoming a regular under Mikel Arteta.

Though he would only contribute to four goals after joining Arsenal on loan, he impressed enough to become Arteta’s top target of the summer.

They eventually did complete that deal after a summer-long chase, paying just under £30million to sign him.

Considering Odegaard was once rated as one of the brightest emerging talents in the world, that was a relative bargain for the Gunners.

Now, Arsenal and Arteta have the chance to repeat that trick in the upcoming January window.

Dejan Kulusevski has struggled to convince Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri that he deserves to be handed starting opportunities.

According to Il Bianconero, Kulusevski’s situation in Turin may interest Arsenal, who are looking to replace flop Nicolas Pepe.

Pepe looks set to be moved on by the Gunners after failing to live up to his £72m price tag, with Kulusevski thought to be on their target list.

It is stated that Juventus hope to sell the Swedish international for a fee that will see them recoup the full £30m they paid Atalanta for him in 2020.

But if they do not receive a high enough offer to match that, they will also be ‘open’ to a loan offer for the winger.

Such a deal would ensure they kept hold of the 21-year-old in the long-term, while ensuring he gained match action.

It is a remarkably similar situation to that of Odegaard’s last January, with the move to Arsenal seen as a chance for him to prove himself to Los Blancos.

But despite Carlo Ancelotti replacing Zidane, Odegaard failed to fight his way into the Italian’s plans, much to Arsenal’s benefit.

If they do make a move for Kulusevski, the Gunners will hope that such a move will turn out as well as Odegaard’s arrival has.
