Arsenal fans blast Arteta for "awful treatment" of Saliba after latest snub

Arsenal fans have slammed the treatment of young defender William Saliba by Mikel Arteta after the young defender was sent out on loan again.

Saliba will spend the season with Marseille after agreeing another move back to France on a short-term basis.

It was thought that the 20-year-old would be given a chance to impress for the Gunners, who signed him for £27m back in 2019 from Saint-Etienne.

However, Arteta does not seem to be ready to make him part of his plans just yet, and shipped him off back to France to gain more experience.

Saliba impressed during a stint with Nice last term, prompting talk regular game time at the Emirates this time out.

And Gunners fans have been left bitterly disappointed that's not the case, while others have cursed Arteta for the way he seems to have treated Saliba.

One wrote on Twitter: "Awful treatment."

"Makes no sense but ok," added a second.

"This is one of the most stupid decisions ever made," slammed a third. "We have major problem in our defence line and we wanna spend money on defenders while we had him!!"

Should Arsenal have kept hold of Saliba this season or was Arteta right? Let us know in the comments below.

"The man management from Arteta is atrocious he alienates players," a disapproving fourth wrote.

As a fifth added: "The way ARTETA is treating this kid is wrong. WE HATE ARTETA."

"What a top talent we destroyed," shared another.

Arsenal's technical director Edu has spoken out on the decision to loan out the defender.

He told the club's official website : “Together with William, we have decided it will be good for his continued development to spend another season on loan.

"William joined us as an 18-year-old, and he is still only 20, so he is still developing all the time.

"William is a player with strong natural ability and next season has the potential to be really beneficial for him at Marseille, a good club.

"To play another season in Ligue 1 will be very important for his development.

"We will of course be keeping in close contact with William during the season and wish him all the best in France with Marseille."
