Mikel Arteta has launched an offer for Sassuolo's Euro 2020 star Manuel Locatelli, who has impressed for Italy during their group stage fixtures.
The 23-year-old has earned admirers all over Europe, and he scored twice against Switzerland before being rested against Wales on Sunday as Italy progressed through to the last 16.
Juventus have had the starlet on their radar for a long time, and Sassuolo want £34million for Locatelli but Juventus are hoping to land him on a two-year loan.
However, Arsenal could be ready to swoop in, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, and the Gunners have put an offer in for the youngster.
The report states that Sassuolo ‘have received important offers (without counterparts attached) from Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund’.
The Old Lady, on the other hand, are looking to sweeten the deal with the addition of either Radu Dragusin, Nicolò Fagioli or Felix Correia.
However, Arsenal aren't the only the English side interested in Locatelli, and Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Manchester City have also been tracking the midfielder.
City were first-in-line for Locatelli, and they could be ready to offer the asking price for the Italian, whilst PSG also remains interested.
With all that competition, Arsenal face an uphill task to secure the signature of Locatelli without the glitz of European football to offer him.
Arteta, however, is keen on a major squad rebuild following a disappointing campaign in North London.
