Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is already starting to put pieces in place as he looks to bolster the squad for the 2021/22 season.
The Gunners missed out on European football for the first time in 25 years, having finished one point behind Tottenham and outside the Europa Conference League.
Despite this, the ‘Big Six’ side are still being linked with some big deals this summer, such as Brighton midfielder and Nicolas Pepe’s friend Yves Bissouma.
Not thing that is certain is players will be heading out of Arsenal’s doors, though, as Arteta looks to get rid of dead-wood from his squad.
But some big decisions have already been made in North London – and Daily Star Sport has summarised the headlines you need to know…
Gunners make £30m Buendia offer
It seems Emiliano Buendia is Arsenal’s top priority this summer, having scored 15 goals and made 17 assists last season to send Norwich back to the Premier League.
But the Canaries midfielder would be tempted by a move to North London – and The Sun have reported that Arteta has made his move.
Arsenal have lodged a £30m bid and are willing to put a player into the mix as they are facing competition from Aston Villa for the Argentine’s signature.
While the midfielder wants to leave Carrow Road, the promoted side are happy to let the teams fight it out for the player they value at £10m higher.
Who should Arsenal sign to strengthen their squad for the 2021/22 season? Let us know in the comments section.
Arteta allows four exits
With the Gunners expected to have a tight budget for the summer, it had been anticipated that players will have to make way for new arrivals at the Emirates Stadium,
And the club revealed on their website who those stars will be, with 34-year-old defender David Luiz top of the list.
Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard will also be ending their loan spells from Real Madrid while goalkeeper Mat Ryan heads back to Brighton over the summer.
This would certainly open up the budget for new midfielders such as Buendia and Bissouma while also suggesting they will chase a centre-back.
Arsenal dealt Berge blow
One of the few stars to shine during Sheffield United’s relegation season was midfielder, having joined from Genk in January 2020 to make 32 appearances.
Arsenal’s struggles to find a regular partner in midfield for Thomas Partey, though, had seen them get linked with a move for the Norwegian.
But The Star have reported that the Gunners’ interest will not stop the Blades demanding a £35m fee for the 23-year-old.
The North London side are in ‘pole position’ to sign him but have been told a broker mediating the deal for United that they will have to pay the top price for Berge or not at all.
