Arsenal transfer target Dusan Vlahovic would be ‘open’ to joining the club this month, according to reports. The Gunners have been linked with a move for Vlahovic in recent weeks and have stepped up their interest in the January transfer window. The Serbia star has been in stunning goalscoring form for Fiorentina and is attracting interest from a host of top clubs across Europe.

Vlahovic has previously stated he would like to stay at Fiorentina until the end of the season.

However, Arsenal have seemingly convinced the player that they would be a good destination for him this month.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol says Vlahovic “would like to play for Arsenal” and can see what manager Mikel Arteta is building at the Emirates.

“I think if it was left to the player, he would be open to going to Arsenal,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News.

“I think he would like to play for Arsenal, he knows about the history of the club, he knows Arsenal are in London, they’ve got a fantastic stadium, they’ve got fantastic history.

“Mikel Arteta is building something special again at the club.

“And I think, if you’re an Arsenal fan, it’s also good news that Arsenal owners are backing Mikel Arteta, because obviously they’re saying to him ‘look, this is a live target, this is somebody who you want, and we’re going to try and get him for you’.

“Now, of course, there’s no guarantee that they’re going to be successful because we’re talking about one of the most sought-after players in world football at the moment.

“This is a player that a lot of big clubs are aware of and they all want him.”

Vlahovic told Politika in December that he wants to help lead Fiorentina’s fight for European football this season.

Though he admitted things could change “overnight”.

Vlahovic said: “I have stated this several times so far. A beautiful football story is being made here in Florence.

“We have a good team, great football players, great support from the fans. It all deserves respect.

“Only God knows what will happen in the next period. My wish is to bring Fiorentina to Europe, because we have not been in Europe for a long time.

“I don’t know what can happen overnight. We’ll see.”

Arsenal’s interest has seemingly caught the eye of the goalscoring sensation.

Gunners boss Arteta stated last week the club were open to signings this month if the opportunity arose.

“We have to maximise every window in many different ways and we are alert,” Arteta said.

“If it is the right player and we can afford it and we can do what we want to do we will discuss it and make the best possible decision. We are open.”
