Arsenal may end up missing out on Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk with Paris Saint-Germain now rumoured to be in the mix. A vacancy may soon present itself at the Parc des Princes with Kylian Mbappe keen to leave in January, despite signing a lucrative new contract in the summer.

PSG hasn’t been a club full of happy campers this season. Factions have supposedly emerged in the dressing room with Neymar and Mbappe broadly failing to see eye-to-eye and other players picking sides.

Sly shots have been fired by the Frenchman on social media while reports emerged this week stating that he is now dead-set on finding a new club in January. That would leave huge boots to fill in Paris but sporting director Luis Campos may not find it too difficult to convince a top attacker to play alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.

According to Media Foot, PSG are already weighing up whether to make a move for Mudryk next summer as Mbappe’s long-term replacement.

At just 23 years old, Mbappe is already closing in on 150 Ligue 1 goals and he has scored at a rate of just under one goal per game since joining the Parisians in 2017. Nevertheless, Mudryk has been touted as one of the best emerging wingers in Europe by Shakhtar chief Darijo Srna.

“Mudryk is better than any Brazilian who has ever played for us,” he told CBS Sports. “That’s no exaggeration. Football has been a big part of my life and I’m not afraid to say that he’s the best player in his position behind Mbappe, Neymar and Vinicius.”

Arsenal are also among the top European clubs to show an interest in Mudryk and they reportedly sent scouts to watch him in the Champions League earlier this month. The Gunners may currently hold the advantage as the only team Mudryk has openly discussed his admiration for, and the 21-year-old admitted that he would struggle to turn down a move to the Emirates.

“Arsenal is a very good team with very good coach and I like the way they play” he told CBS Sports. “From my side, I can’t say no [to Arsenal] but the transfer is not only my decision. It’s a lot of people, like the president of Shakhtar and the club.

“Every guy dreams about the Premier League. It’s a top league and everyone wants to play in it. But the speculation has passed and I must move forward and focus on Shakhtar and in winter we will see what will happen.

“There was a lot of discussions about a transfer and clubs who want me, but it’s normal. Now I am at Shakhtar and I want to play in this team. I love this team. I love every guy in this team. Shakhtar for me is home, but I want to always improve myself and achieve new goals. Now, all my thoughts are only about Shakhtar but in the winter we will see.”
