Arsenal are unlikely to sign both Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar and it’s set to be a case of one or the other, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners set their sights on Partey earlier this year but are yet to make the breakthrough in talks.
Atletico Madrid have already rejected two offers for their player, both of which involved cash plus Matteo Guendouzi.
The Frenchman is now a player they are interested in, having been offered around to the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
While Alexandre Lacazette was discussed, Atletico have since decided that Partey will only join Arsenal if they meet his £45million release clause.
The Gunners have now been told the same by Lyon, for Houssem Aouar, his price-tag must be met.

While Aouar does not have a release clause, Lyon value him at £54m and will not budge on that figure.
Arsenal have now got their work cut out trying to land the duo with just under a month left of the transfer window.
They have seen an opening offer of £31m plus Guendouzi turned away for Aouar.
Romano believes Arsenal will bid again but he has ruled out the club signing both.

“We will see because Arsenal are monitoring him so they will try again in my opinion,” he said on the Here We Go podcast.
“They are in talks with his agent but it’s so difficult in this moment to get him because of the president Aulas.
“It’s complicated but for sure he is on the list. I will also say it’s just one between Thomas and Aouar this summer.

Lyon chief Juninho has revealed talks have taken place with Arsenal sporting director Edu over the player.
“I get along very well with the sports director [Edu],” he told RMC Sport.
““We spoke on the phone. Houssem Aouar is really appreciated by Arteta.
“There have been some discussions for Matteo Guendouzi who is also a good player.
“He was mentioned during the discussion, but this is not the profile we need, we were very clear. If it is like that, it does not interest us at all – it is, and we stopped.”
