Mikel Arteta could be heard urging Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kieran Tierney to bomb forward during Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle on Monday night.
The Gunners are aiming to secure their fourth win in five games at home to Steve Bruce’s men, who they also got the better of in the third round of the FA Cup earlier this month.
They were unable to break the visitors down in a testing opening 45 minutes, nevertheless, recording just one shot on target before the half-time whistle sounded.
Arteta will therefore be hoping for an improvement from his side after the interval.
According to PA journalist Mark Mann-Bryans, the Arsenal manager could be heard bellowing instructions to Aubameyang and Tierney during the first half.
The pair have not enjoyed too much success down the left-hand side so far, and Arteta is keen for them to break with more urgency when they win the ball back from Newcastle.
He could be heard shouting: “KT, Auba, wait for the second ball and then go”.
The Spaniard is clearly looking for Aubameyang and Tierney to get forward as soon as Arsenal reclaim possession, which could catch Newcastle out on the counter-attack in north London.
Even if Arsenal go on to claim victory, though, Gary Neville has warned Arteta not to rest on his laurels at The Emirates.
“They had to turn a corner because they were starting from such a poor position,” Neville said pre-match on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.
“Tonight gets them back to a point where they can maybe see the top six.
“But if you look at the next run of fixtures (Southampton, Manchester United, Wolves, Aston Villa), they're challenging.
