Barcelona reportedly view Erling Haaland as their top transfer target this summer but have a plan B in case they cannot facilitate a deal for the Borussia Dortmund star. Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp. But reports from Spain claim Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez is Barca’s second-choice instead.

Martinez was targeted by Barca last summer but the La Liga giants were not able to afford a deal for the Argentina international.

The 23-year-old has scored 16 goals in 35 Serie A appearances for Inter this season, helping Antonio Conte’s side win the Italian title for the first time in 10 years.

It was no secret Barca wanted to re-sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

However, the Brazilian’s new contract in Paris has ended chances of his return to Spain.

Spanish outlet Sport say Barca chiefs are now prioritising the signing of Haaland.

However, there is plenty of competition for the Norwegian’s signature.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are the English clubs linked with Haaland, with Real Madrid also in for the 20-year-old.

United are in the market for a striker and are also keen on Tottenham star Kane.

So, as Sport reports, it is good news for the Red Devils that Martinez is Barca’s back-up option and not Kane.

The report claims there is a ‘lack of consensus’ over Kane at the Nou Camp and that Martinez is the preferred plan B.

United are interested in the England skipper as a potential long-term replacement for Edinson Cavani at Old Trafford.

Cavani is out of contract this summer and could leave after just one year in the Premier League.

Kane is yet to win any silverware in his career and will again finish this season trophyless.

Spurs lost in the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City and fell short in both the Europa League and FA Cup.

Speaking earlier this week, Kane once again explained his desire to win trophies before he retires.

“Just to have trophies under the belt, to have amazing experiences under the belt,” Kane told beIN SPORTS.

“Of course I’ve played in some finals, some semi-finals. On the bigger stage it hasn’t quite gone my way, but I’ve got plenty of years left.

“Hopefully I can look back on my career in years to come and be proud of what I’ve achieved.”
