Jamie Carragher insists Mohamed Salah is the best player in the WORLD, while Roy Keane jokes that James Milner will be ‘going home in an ambulance’ after being run ragged by ‘outstanding’ Phil Foden
- Jamie Carragher believes Mohamed Salah is currently the world’s best player
- The forward grabbed a goal and assist as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Man City
- Phil Foden was also praised by Roy Keane after an impressive performance
- The City forward levelled the score at 1-1 and played a part in their second
Jamie Carragher hailed Mohamed Salah as the best player in the world after the forward’s stunning display in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
Salah came alive in the second half at Anfield, setting up Sadio Mane for the Reds’ opener before a finishing off a superb solo run to score the hosts’ second of the afternoon. City, however, came from behind twice to earn a point.
The Egyptian’s goal was his eighth in all competitions in what has been a fantastic star to the season and Carragher believes, on current form, he is the best in the world.

‘I don’t think there’s anyone better in the world at this moment or in European football, I really don’t,’ Carragher told Sky Sports.
‘I’ve seen the Champions League, his record over the last few weeks has been outstanding.
‘You can never question him too much for what he’s done at Liverpool. But right now is about as sharp as I’ve ever seen him.’
Salah went past four players before producing a brilliant finish from a tight angle to put Liverpool 2-1 ahead in the second half.

Reflecting on the forward’s goal, Carragher said: ‘That is world class, he is world class.
‘I’ve spoken about it last few weeks he’s one of the greatest players to ever play for Liverpool.
‘Liverpool lost Roger Hunt in the last few days one of the greatest goalkeepers ever seen. Mo Salah is right up there. He goes in that right side of Liverpool’s all time XI. No doubt about it.’
The pundit also insisted that his former side must get Salah tied down to a new long-term deal. The forward is out of contract in 2023 and talks over an extension are yet to advance.
‘I know situation Liverpool are in,’ Carragher added. ‘They don’t have the finances Man City have when you see someone like Kevin De Bruyne. But right now he’s playing as well as anyone in European football they can’t let this drag on and risk losing Mo Salah in the next two years because this is a guy who looks after himself.
‘I’m not going to say he’s like Ronaldo at 35 or 36 topping the goalscoring charts but I still think this lad has a lot in him going into his 30s.’
Phil Foden was also praised for his impressive performance and brilliant goal at Anfield
Ex-Man United man Roy Keane described the young forward as outstanding and pure quality
While there was much praise for Salah, Phil Foden also earned plenty of plaudits after scoring at Anfield for a consecutive season.
Roy Keane hailed the forward as ‘pure quality’ and joked that James Milner, who was up against the England international, would be going home in an ambulance after being run ragged.
‘Outstanding,’ Keane said of Foden. ‘He’s maturing well. There were talks over the last few years if he would go to the next level, he’s clearly doing that now he’s more of a regular, getting confidence, working with brilliant players and one of the best managers ever.
‘Everything about him his quality. Touch, decision making, effecting big games, he scores a goal and sets one up that’s what you want from good young players.
‘He’s had some disappointments like when he was away with England but today, Milner will be glad to see the back of him. I think Milner’s going home in an ambulance tonight. Everything about him, pure quality from the kid.’
