Chelsea and Liverpool both want to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the transfer window and the Blues could hold an advantage over the Reds. Frank Lampard is desperate to strengthen his squad this summer.
Werner has been in sensational form this season, netting 27 goals and providing 12 assists to his team-mates.
Chelsea could be the favoured choice for Werner though because of strategy Liverpool have used in recent transfer windows.
That’s according to Football London who say Jurgen Klopp is keen to only add players who will improve his squad by a significant amount.
That was underlined by no big-money moves last summer with Adrian the only senior arrival on a free transfer after his release from West Ham and an injury to Alisson.

Klopp believed there was no need for a big change with Liverpool winning the Champions League and the squad blending well.
Chelsea could also offer Werner first-team football which may be harder to come by at Anfield.
It would be unlikely that the 24-year-old would start ahead of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
That could make Stamford Bridge a more appealing destination for Werner as he seeks a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea are in need of major reinforcement with Christian Pulisic the only new recent arrival because of the club’s transfer ban.
Frank Lampard has already completed the signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax who is set to join in the summer.
And with Willian, Pedro and Olivier Giroud likely to leave the Blues need to bring in significant players at the end of the season whenever that may be.
Werner’s flexibility is a huge appeal for Chelsea as he can be the main striker or play in a slightly wider role.
Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is not worried about the rumours surrounding Werner though.

“I’m deeply relaxed about Werner,” he told Sky Sports Germany.
“He hasn’t signalled yet that he wants to leave beyond this season, and he doesn’t have to. He has a contract until 2023.”
Liverpool aren’t the only club interested in Werner though with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also said to be considering a bid.
And Dimitar Berbatov believes moving to Bayern would make more sense for Werner than flying over to England.
“There have been reports about Bayern Munich’s interest in Timo Werner, and having played in the Bundesliga, Munich are up there with the biggest names like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus and so on,” he told Betfair.
“Every season they are up there in the Champions League and they have been dominant in Germany.
“To be honest, it looks like a sensible move for Werner, he knows the league, they know him there, he can get used to his surroundings a lot easier.
“The only thing for me that I may question is if he goes there he will have a lot of competition to face in Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and potentially Leroy Sane, who they are also linked with, so there are a lot of similarities for one or two positions.
“But, like I said, it makes more sense for him to go there than move to England where it will probably take him a bit more time to adjust to things.”
