Chelsea fans have pointed out that they could be facing their old manager, Frank Lampard, when they welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the season.
Lampard was dismissed as Chelsea manager at the end of January, as the Blues were limping to a disappointing campaign.
However, Thomas Tuchel has since taken the helm, and Chelsea have gone from strength to strength as they finished in the top four and won the Champions League.
The two parties have yet to meet again, however, with Lampard linked to the vacant Palace hot-seat, they could be set for an opening day clash.
Lampard has been heavily linked to succeed Roy Hodgson, who retired at the end of last campaign, and he has been out of a job since he was shown the door by Chelsea.
"Imagine if Frank Lampard gets the Crystal Palace job That would be some reunion on the first match day. [I] Will feel bad for him to lose his first match in charge but hey," one Chelsea fan tweeted.
Another commented: "Frank Lampard could return to Stamford Bridge on the opening day."
"Just clocked we're actually gonna play Frank Lampard's tricky Palace first game of the season at the bridge too," a third joked.
