Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger “tried everything to leave” the Blues in the summer transfer window, according to Germany manager Joachim Low. Rudiger is yet to play a single minute for Chelsea this season. The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of experienced Brazil international Thiago Silva.
Rudiger was keen to leave for first-team football and was linked with London rivals Tottenham and West Ham.
Low has revealed that he was in regular contact with the centre-back in the closing stages of the window.
He claims that Rudiger had three clubs interested in him but they all fell through at the weekend.
Low said: “I’ve been keeping an eye on things the last few days, what happened in the final hours [of the transfer window], how many changes there were at the last minute.
