Inter Milan defender Achraf Hakimi is growing disillusioned with the idea of a move to Paris Saint-Germain after being frustrated by their efforts to bring him to the Parc des Princes, with Chelsea now the clear frontrunners for his signature, according to reports. The 22-year-old is widely expected to leave Inter ahead of next season as the newly-crowned Serie A champions look to balance their books by selling a number of first-team players.
The likes of Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella have also been tipped to follow recently departed boss Antonio Conte out of the exit door as part of the impending exodus.
Hakimi’s likely departure would come as a significant blow for Inter, with the Moroccan defender emerging as one of the game’s best full-backs in recent years.
He proved his world-class capabilities during a two-year loan spell at Borussia Dortmund before he was sold by parent club Real Madrid last summer.
Since joining Inter, Hakimi has established himself as the first-choice option on the right side of their back five and played a key role in the club’s recent Serie A triumph.
He featured in all but one of his side’s league matches, chipping in with seven goals and 10 assists to help fire Il Nerrazzurri to their first Scudetto since 2010.

His form has earned links to a number of the world’s biggest clubs, with Chelsea and PSG emerging as the standout contenders.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly keen on adding a quality wing-back to his ranks ahead of a renewed Premier League title challenge next season.
It seems as though Chelsea are now poised to complete the signing of Hakimi this summer, with the likelihood of a move to PSG beginning to dwindle, according to Caught Offside.
The report claims that Hakimi has been left ‘frustrated and confused’ by the French club’s half-hearted attempts to secure his services.
PSG were reportedly the first side to submit a formal offer for the player, but are yet to go back in with an improved bid after their initial proposal was swiftly rejected by Inter.
Although Paris is said to remain Hakimi’s preferred destination, it is suggested that he is currently closer to joining Chelsea, who have shown a genuine intent to engineer a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are locked in negotiations with Inter and are said to be making big strides towards striking a deal, with Hakimi of the persuasion that an agreement may only be a matter of time.
However, a move is never beyond doubt until the dotted line has been signed, and it remains to be seen whether PSG will aim to launch a late bid and nip ahead of Chelsea in the race for the Madrid-born defender.
The European champions are also said to be targeting additions in a number of other areas, with a new striker also near the top of Thomas Tuchel’s wish list.
Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland has been heavily linked with Chelsea in recent weeks amid suggestions that talks are underway at club level.
The west London outfit were the Premier League’s biggest spenders last summer, shelling out an eye-watering total of £222million in transfer fees, and another busy window looks to be on the horizon this time around.
