Cristiano Ronaldo has delivered a rallying cry to his squad ahead of Manchester United’s first Premier League game since the international break, against struggling Watford.
The Portugal international took to Instagram to announce to his followers that he will ‘roll up his sleeves’ and ‘get the job done’, while demanding a similar effort from his teammates.
He wrote to his 368million followers: “Time to role [sic] up the sleeves once again and just get the job done! Let’s chase what we are trying to achieve this season!”
The Red Devils have had a rocky start to their league campaign. A 3-0 win at the end of October was sandwiched with a 5-0 hammering at home to Liverpool a week before and a subsequent 2-0 loss to Manchester City.
The manner of defeat against their biggest rivals in quick succession has left fans red-faced, with some calls for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to leave his post as manager.
Man United have earned a place in the Champions League round of 16 already with thanks to their thrilling duet of games with Atalanta, ending with four points to Soskjaer’s men, but in the league they languish in sixth place and have lost three of their last five games.
The fallout of their poor league form has seen Solskjaer promise supporters that they will see a reaction at Vicarage Road.

The 48-year-old said via BBC Sport: The players, staff, myself and club are working toward one goal; to improve and get better results.”
When you lose, you are always disappointed and under pressure," he added. "Sometimes the first thing you want to do is get back on the training ground.
"But this has been a good time to refresh our minds. We have prioritised a few things and I am sure you will see a reaction."
