Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been forced to hire protection for his family after receiving death threats following his tackle on Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
In the recent Merseyside derby, Pickford caught Van Dijk with a reckless challenge which saw the Dutchman leave the pitch.
Within 24 hours it was confirmed Van Dijk had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and would be out of action for several months.
Liverpool were angered by the tackle by Pickford and he was heavily criticised by Jurgen Klopp and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti jumped to the defence of his No 1 goalkeeper.
