Arsenal have endured a disastrous campaign in Mikel Arteta's first full season in charge and a summer rebuild is critical.
The Gunners are in danger of missing out on European qualification entirely for the first time in 25 years after an underwhelming league campaign.
And the nadir came in the Europa League semi-final exit to Villarreal, managed by former boss Unai Emery, where any hopes of Champions League football next season were relinquished.
Inexperienced Arteta has been under huge pressure but it looks as though he will be given this summer to rebuild his squad.
A huge clear-out is expected as the Spaniard jettisons some experienced stars and several exits are already confirmed ahead of their final Premier League game of the season against Brighton.
Daily Star Sport have looked at four players who will be leaving due to their contracts expiring this summer.
David Luiz's time in North London has been littered with extreme highs and horrendous lows but the Brazilian will depart this summer.
It is widely agreed that Arsenal wouldn't have claimed their record 14th FA Cup without Luiz's two inspired performances in the semi-finals and final against Manchester City and Chelsea.
But he has also made several notable errors and has struggled to maintain his fitness.
The 34-year-old's impending exit was announced last week and Arsenal will surely be on the lookout for a central defender to replace the experienced figure.
Odegaard has shown glimpses of his class at Arsenal but is set to return to Real Madrid after his short loan expires next month.
The Norwegian playmaker has netted memorable goals against Olympiacos in the Europa League and against rivals Tottenham in the league.
But his game time has been limited in recent weeks and his progress has been hampered by injuries.
Arteta has consistently lauded the midfielder's ability and the Gunners may decide to make a move to keep him permanently beyond this season.
But Odegaard is likely to seek European football and Arsenal's domestic struggles mean it will be difficult to attract the top players this summer.
Ceballos is another midfielder set to return to Madrid after a two-year loan spell in North London.
The Spaniard hasn't matched expectations at the Emirates and will be waving his goodbyes in the Brighton fixture.
He has been an inconsistent performer under Arteta but his highlight will undoubtedly be last season's FA Cup triumph which he played a pivotal role in.

The back-up goalkeeper is another player who's short-stint is up at the Emirates this summer.
Ryan, 29, has made three appearances for his boyhood club, conceding on just two occasions after his move from final day opponents Brighton.
He has not let Arteta down on his rare opportunity but he will be seeking a new challenge ahead of next season.
