Furious Man Utd fans send Ed Woodward message during horrific first-half

Furious Manchester United fans have hit out at executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward during their side’s mauling by Tottenham.

United actually took the lead against Spurs through a Bruno Fernandes penalty. But Jose Mourinho’s men quickly hit back through Tanguy Ndombele.

And just minutes later the roof fell in when Heung-Min Son put the visitors in front at Old Trafford, before Anthony Martial was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident involving Erik Lamela.

Spurs took advantage of the man advantage to extend their lead through goals from Son and Harry Kane to heap further misery on the Red Devils.

Woodward has come under intense criticism for the club’s transfer policy in the summer window.

With less than 48 hours remianing before Monday’s deadline, United have confirmed just one signing.

Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles are both closing in on moves, according to reports, but that has done little to appease an increasingly disgruntled fanbase.

With the first-half winding down, the Sky Sports camera panned to Woodward in the crowd, with fans angrily reacting on social media.

One angry United fan posted: “Ed Woodward sitting there watching the match when we need signings now. Absolutely shambolic”, while another said: “The cheek of Ed Woodward to watch the game a day before deadline day.”

A third predicted: “Trust Ed Woodward to bid £108M for Sancho tomorrow… Such cluelessness all round… Shameful!!”

A fourth supporter felt the performance may have been a message to the chairman: “With Ed Woodward watching, Ole's tactics are simple. Lose at all costs.”

“They put Ed Woodward on screen again and I'm smashing my TV. This b****** needs to go hide in an underground bunker,” another said.

While one simply demanded: “REMOVE ED WOODWARD FROM HIS POST IMMEDIATELY!”
