Jamie O’Hara has revealed the way Harry Redknapp helped him turn his life around following the midfielder’s split from Danielle Lloyd.
Former Tottenham and Portsmouth star O’Hara split from Lloyd in 2014 after two years of marriage.
The pair have three sons together with the divorce hitting O’Hara hard as he quit football and started drinking heavily.
Though the 33-year-old, who is now manager of National League South Billericay Town, has spoken of how his former boss Redknapp was a big influence in changing his ways.
O’Hara told the Run Free podcast: “I didn’t have a job and was just sitting around. Harry was massive for me.
"I’d say he almost saved my life.
“It was brilliant to get me back on my feet.”
O’Hara had previously revealed how Redknapp was not happy following a secret Christmas party at Tottenham.
Explaining the incident, O’Hara said: “I was at Tottenham and we’d organised a Christmas party. Harry Redknapp hated them and he was really against them.

“Robbie Keane had organised this big event in Dublin, and we all went there. Before Harry even knew what was going on we’d had the Christmas party and we were back in training on the Monday.
“Harry pulled us into a team meeting in the afternoon and said ‘boys I’m just letting you know I don’t want any of you organising a Christmas party this year’, not knowing we’d already had one!
