Liverpool continue to fly in the Premier League this season but they remain without talented youngster Harvey Elliott who suffered a fractured ankle last month, but the 18-year-old has excited fans with his latest injury update.

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott has excited fans on Instagram as he gave the Reds supporters an update on his injury progress.

Elliott had started the season off in fine form after Jurgen Klopp showed his faith in the youngster, but his run in the side was ended prematurely in horrific fashion.

The 18-year-old fractured his left ankle during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leeds United after it became trapped following a challenge from Pascal Struijk in the second half.

However, following a post from Elliott to his Instagram account, it seems that the 18-year-old could be back earlier than expected.

Elliott teased fans as he uploaded a picture of himself riding on an exercise bike, with the caption: “Step by step, day by day”, highlighting that he is making steady progress with his treatment.

The Liverpool star only fractured his ankle a little over three weeks ago, demonstrating the lightning speed progress in which Elliott is recovering from the challenge, and he could be back on the field before we know it.

Elliott is certainly one to get excited about for Liverpool fans, as the youngster has already shown his maturity and ability in a star-studded side at just the age of 18.

The former Fulham star joined from Craven Cottage in 2019 after already becoming the youngest player ever to feature in both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League.

After becoming the youngest player to ever start a match for Liverpool, Elliott was loaned to Blackburn Rovers for the 2020/21 season, and the deal turned out to be a brilliant one for all parties.

Elliott made 41 appearances in the Championship for Blackburn, and scored seven goals during his time in the second division. and has returned as a different man to the one that initially left Anfield.

The 18-year-old used his loan to springboard his career further, and after staring for Liverpool in pre-season, Klopp opted not to loan the youngster for another season, and make him part of his plans for the year ahead.

Elliott featured in all four of Liverpool’s opening Premier League games this season before being ruled out through injury, with his versatility impressing Klopp enough to start him in three of the opening four.

It’s a matter of Deja vu for Klopp, who witnessed an injury ridden campaign last time out, and the German will be hoping that Elliott’s ankle problem will not turn out to be a recurring one.

Despite a number of injuries already this season, Liverpool remain the only unbeaten side in England, and are yet to lose in any competition as they have taken maximum points from their opening Champions League group games and sit second in the Premier League behind Chelsea.

With Liverpool likely to be heavily involved in all competitions this season, Klopp will need a full squad to be able to keep up with the demand of the games that will be coming thick and fast once the October international break is over.

Elliott’s progress will be a welcome sight for the Liverpool boss though, who rates the 18-year-old extremely highly.
