Chelsea could be without some key stars for the visit of Southampton this weekend.
Heading into the international break, everything was rosy for the Blues following a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
But since then Frank Lampard has been hit with a host of problems.
First, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with Senegal.
It is believed he will spend around 10 days on the sidelines, casting him as a major doubt for next Saturday’s meeting with the Saints at Stamford Bridge.
Senegal released a statement on Friday that read: “Mendy sustained an injury to the right thigh that occurred during the training session on Wednesday, October 07, 2020 and has undergone a medical examination at the hospital in Rabat.
“Edouard Mendy has also left the group this afternoon to return to his club where he will undergo further examinations.
“The Senegalese Football Federation wishes him a speedy recovery.”
Mendy’s absence could hand Kepa Arrizabalaga a shock recall in between the sticks, having been dropped to make way for the 28-year-old.
Kepa kept a clean sheet for Spain against Portugal this week and is determined to win his spot back in Lampard's side.
Another blow for the Chelsea boss came from Ben Chilwell, who was forced to miss England's win over Wales this week after breaching Covid-19 guidelines.
The left-back was left out, along with Jadon Sancho and fellow Chelsea star Tammy Abraham, after attending a party that had more than the six people permitted under coronavirus law.
Chilwell is set to miss out on this evening's Belgium clash through illness, which is said to be unrelated to Covid.
The summer signing has undergone more tests to see if he has the virus.
If Chilwell is still absent for Saturday's clash, it is likely Emerson will fill in at left-back.
