The Italian national team have suffered a covid scare, with three media staff testing positive, just three days ahead of their Euro 2020 final clash with England at Wembley.

Italy beat Spain on penalties – on Tuesday evening – to book their place in the final after Jorginho cooly slotted the ball past Unai Simon.

However, their preparations for the crunch tie have been launched into chaos upon the discovery of the positive tests.

The Italian training camp at Coverciano, on the outskirts of Florence, was immediately shut, cleaned, and sanitised – whilst tests were taken on players and staff to make sure none were affected.

"It's not the ideal preparation for the team and we are making sure that none of them are infected but we are taking no chances and tests are being carried out," a source at the Italian FA told The Sun.

"The chance of infection with any of the team is small but we want to be sure.

"It means that training sessions with the media in attendance have all been cancelled and we are having to make other arrangements."

It is though the three infected individuals, who all work for the Italian broadcasters RAI, contracted the virus in London.

Two tested positive whilst covering the semi-final clash, whilst the third tested positive in Coverciano.

The cases come a couple of weeks after the Italian prime minister, Mario Draghi, asked UEFA to move the final to Rome due to the coronavirus cases in the UK.
