Jack Hendry in talks over £10m move to Club Brugge despite the Scottish defender only joining Oostende from Celtic this summer and interest from a number of Premier League sides

Scotland international centre back Jack Hendry is in talks over a £10million move to Club Brugge.

The 26-year old joined Oostende this summer after they took up an option to sign him from Celtic following his impressive season on loan. The Belgian side will pay around 7m euros with 3m in add-ons.

He was voted the best defender in Belgium and drew enquiries from Burnley, Southampton and Sheffield United but is now close to joining Belgian champions Brugge.

Jack Hendry was voted player of the year in Belgium last season and Club Brugge are keen

The 26-year-old made 30 appearances and scored two goals for Oostende in the Belgian Pro League last season.

He only joined Oostende on a permanent deal at the start of the window as they took up a £1.8million option to sign him from Celtic.  

However, the Belgian side are open to making a quick profit on the stylish 6ft 5ins centre-back who was voted player of the year in Belgium last season.

The Scottish international has been linked with a number of Premier League sides this summer

He then scored for Scotland in their pre-Euros friendly against Holland before playing a part in Scotland’s bid to qualify from their group with England.

Scotland manager Clarke and his assistant John Carver have played a significant role in Hendry’s progress and have been quick to sing his praises to enquiring club managers weighing up a move as the window enters its final stages.

A move to Club Brugge would see him get Champions League football with the Belgian champions.

The defender would face a tough baptism in Europe’s biggest competition, as Brugge are are in the same group as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
