Jorge Mendes 'sounding out clubs for Ansu Fati with Man United keen'

Jorge Mendes ‘is sounding out clubs for Ansu Fati as he struggles for minutes at Barcelona with Man United among those keen’… but they would have to pay around £90m for the 20-year-old star

  • Ansu Fati is struggling for minutes at Barcelona prompting interest from clubs
  • Barcelona may need to sell players to deal with FFP problems and heavy debt
  • Man United are in need of a forward and the 20-year-old could be the answer

Ansu Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly sounding out clubs as the Barcelona star struggles for minutes under Xavi.

The 20-year-old product of La Masia certainly burst onto the scene as a teenager but after overcoming injury setbacks last season, he has failed to get back into the first-team.

And now, according to SPORT, Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s former agent, has been gathering interest from clubs with Manchester United among those who are keen.

United were previously been linked with Fati under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club could reignite their interest as they look to bolster their strikeforce.

The Red Devils have also been linked with the likes of highly-rated strikers Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes is understood to be sounding out clubs ahead of the summer window

It’s understood that those interested in Fati would have to pay around £90million for the forward’s signature.

It comes despite Fati signing a new deal with Barca in 2021, keeping him at the club until 2027 with a hefty release clause added worth €1billion (£846m).

But with the signings of Robert Lewandowski and Raphina along with Ousmane Dembele extending his stay at the club, Fati has somewhat fallen down the pecking order.

In fact, he has started just seven LaLiga games this season, with a number of those coming while Lewandowski was suspended last month.

Unfortunately the Spanish forward – who has not scored a LaLiga goal since October – failed to take his opportunity.

Barcelona are not actively looking to sell Fati and the club are hopeful that his fortunes will turn before the end of the season.

However, with the club being impacted by Financial Fair Play rules and debt, a £90m sale would certainly be beneficial.

If Barcelona are to sell Fati, it will be because the Spaniard wants to leave the club, which is not the case for now.
