Liverpool’s season got off to a flying start after they swept aside Norwich City 3-0 at Carrow Road. With Virgil Van Dijk back in the starting line-up plus Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino both on the scoresheet, this was a more familiar Reds’ performance.
However, there was one huge, almost uncomfortable difference, in the Liverpool side – the absence of Jurgen Klopp’s glasses.
Premier League and Reds fans have grown accustomed to the former Borussia Dortmund manager donned in his Liverpool tracksuit, cap, and trademark glasses tripartite.
But he is now starting to leave the specs at home having undergone some surgery on his eyes.
“He’s had a bit of treatment on his eyes which went really well,” said a Liverpool source.

“It means he doesn’t need to wear his glasses all the time. But he still may wear them occasionally in the dugout.”
Klopp would have liked what he saw in East Anglia, perhaps more so because he no longer needs his spectacles to clearly see his side blow the opposition away.
Other Liverpool fans have sensed a possible negative omen in his decision to no longer wear his glasses, comparing it to the time former manager Rafael Benitez got rid of his goatee.
“I hope it’s not like when Rafa grew his goatee. Things were never the same after that,” said one Liverpool fan.

The now Everton manager won the Champions League with the Reds while sporting his famed facial hair, but the seasons after yielded no such success after he took a razor to his look.
However, Liverpool fans fearing a similar unravelling of events as Benitez should fear not, as it would not be the first time Klopp has changed one of his features.
As well as his attire, Klopp is also famed for his beaming, wide smile.
He also had some work done on his famous gnashers after advice from his dentist.
“I went to the dentist because I had some problems so really it was like you have to come in or it will get worse,” said the Liverpool boss.
“So, I had to have antibiotics and medicine and I said: ‘could we do something new like crowns’, and they said, ‘yeah, of course we can’.
“It was not as if I saw Bobby Firmino’s teeth and said ‘I want them’ – but I like them though. Firmino has world class teeth.”

Last season at Anfield, the Clarets secured a shock 1-0 defeat to stun Klopp’s Reds; a defeat which brought an end to their 68-game unbeaten home run.
Sean Dyche’s side will be doing everything they can to ensure Klopp does not see his side win their first home match of the new season.
