Real target Sterling; Juventus step up Gabriel pursuit; Eriksen in demand
Juventus have flown up the Serie A table after having their points deduction overturned, following an order from Italy’s top sport body for the court to review their previous ruling. The Bianconeri’s triumph is only temporary for now, however, as it has been suggested that a smaller sanction will be considered.
Juve were slapped with a painful 15-point deduction in January this year by an Italian football court investigating its transfer dealings. Manager Massimiliano Allegri saw his side tumble down to 10th in the Serie A table, although they have since fought their way back into European contention.
Those aspirations were handed a major boost on Thursday after the courts were ordered to review their punishment. During January’s legal proceedings, a prosecuter had requested a nine-point deduction.
For the moment, all the points previously deducted have been given back to Juventus, which sees them jump up to third in the Serie A table, behind only Lazio and Napoli. However, reports indicate that the Appeal Court will be requested to reconsider their sanction, which could lead to a fresh deduction of between five and ten points.
