Liverpool ace Kostas Tsimikas tests positive for coronavirus following Nations League duty

Liverpool signing Kostas Tsimikas has tested positive for coronavirus after flying with Greece to Slovenia for the team’s opening Nations League fixtures. Tsimikas was likely to start for John van’t Schip’s side but was quarantined after falling ill and hasn’t trained with the rest of the team for three days.

A statement from the Hellenic Football Federation confirmed that a member of the Greek national football team tested positive for COVID-19 but didn’t name him.

According to Greek outlet SPORT 24, the unnamed player is Tsimikas who took a test carried out by UEFA and the rest of the squad is set to follow suit.

The results will be released on Saturday before the Greek roster flies from Ljubljana to Pristina where they are scheduled to take on Kosovo on Sunday.

Tsimikas recently joined Liverpool from Olympiacos on an £11.75m move and put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with the Premier League champions.
