Liverpool eye Adama Traore transfer – but club put off by Wolves demand

Liverpool are weighing up a potential move for Adama Traore, but Wolves’ £64million asking price is seemingly out of their reach.

Traore, 24, is attracting plenty of interest in European football after playing a crucial part in Wolves’ seventh-place Premier League finish last season.

The winger registered six goals and 12 assists for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, an impressive return which has reportedly caught Liverpool’s eye.

Reports suggest Jurgen Klopp has identified him as a transfer target this summer as he gears up for the defence of their Premier League title in the coming season.

Yet according to Calciomercato, the Reds have been put off by Wolves’ hefty £64million asking price – which is believed to be non-negotiable.

The west Midlands club are prepared to listen to offers for Traore, yet with three years remaining on his contract there is little incentive for them to lower their demand.

The Spaniard’s super agent, Jorge Mendes, is understood to have offered his client to Juventus this summer.

Wolves’ failure to qualify for the Europa League next season means Traore is now seeking a move away from the club, and Mendes is keen to find a solution.

As well as Juve and Liverpool, Manchester City are said to be circling despite recently adding Ferran Torres to Pep Guardiola’s ranks.

However, if Mendes fails to convince Wolves to lower their asking price it is unlikely any of the three sides will table a formal offer for Traore this summer.

Juve could potentially fund the transfer in the event of Douglas Costa and Federico Bernardeschi leaving, but the Italian champions are yet to receive attractive offers for either player.

City have also forked out £60million on Torres and Nathan Ake, but Leroy Sane’s £40million switch to Bayern Munich means they could afford a move for Traore should Wolves lower their demand.

As for Liverpool, they have merely spent £11.75million on backup left-back Kostas Tsimikas, with reports suggesting funds are tight on Merseyside amid the coronavirus crisis.
