Bayern boss Hansi Flick was in a playful mood as he joked with reporters following his side's win over PSG in the Champions League final.
Kingsley Coman's second-half header was enough to split the teams, as the German outfit became the first in history to win all their games in the competition in a single campaign.
Wantaway Bayern midfielder Thiago is expected to join Liverpool, while the Spaniard has also attracted interest from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who has coached him twice before.
However, Flick dropped a transfer bombshell when asked about Thiago in his post-match press conference.
"No, he told me he is staying," the coach admitted.
The room fell silent before Flick laughed, explaining he was joking.
"You pulled a brilliant face!" he continued.
"No, I just thanked him for our time together, just like I did every other player.
"I don't know and he doesn't know yet either (which club he will join), because we all focused on this Champions League final. I think we will have to wait for what the following days will bring."
Thiago has one year left on his contract and is believed to be available for as little as £30million.
But former Bayern midfielder Owen Hargreaves has told the Bavarian side to do all they can to keep hold of him for a little while longer.
Speaking on BT Sport after the Champions League final, he said: “They have got to keep Thiago, he is so important and he was fantastic.
“Liverpool fans would have been watching that saying yes please.”
It is thought that the Reds are interested in Thiago but remain reluctant to pay his asking price with him being available on a free next year.
A four-year deal continues to be spoken about, as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen the Premier League champions.
