Liverpool have made a contract offer to Timo Werner as they search for a deal with RB Leipzig.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are set to take advantage of his £49m release clause and will offer a huge five-year contract for the in-form German international striker.
The 23-year-old has scored 27 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions this season and proved himself to be one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe, attracting interest from the Premier League champions in waiting.
Werner looks set to leave Leipzig even if they beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title, with Julian Nagelsmann’s team currently a point behind the league leaders with 11 fixtures remaining.
Italian football expert Nicolo Schira has revealed that Liverpool have offered a deal until 2025 which is worth a mammoth £6.7m a year with added bonuses.

Transfer expert Duncan Castles recently gave his thoughts over the potential deal and suggested that the arrival could signal an immediate departure at Anfield.
“They can also bring in replacements such as Timo Werner,” he told the Transfer Window Podcast .
“You can see, with his pace and his physicality, he’s a fit for Klopp’s style of football. He’s a good alternative to [Sadio] Mane or [Mohamed] Salah.
“You could argue [Roberto] Firmino is the hardest one to replace. That complex link, shadow nine role he plays.

“You have to get a more specific type of forward in there to replace him.
“If I was Firmino’s agent, I would be welcoming talks with Bayern Munich, asking how much they’re willing to pay.
“Bring that information back to Liverpool and discuss a pay rise. They can ask Liverpool to match or better Bayern’s offer.
“If I’m Liverpool I’m going to give him a pay rise and keep him at the club.”
