Liverpool have released their new home kit for the 2022/23 season with a new name and number style on the back of the shirt.

The kit, designed by Nike, is available to pre-order from today and has been inspired by the attitude of 'Scouse solidarity', with the new design reflecting the mentality which makes Liverpool unique. The red home shirt features 'You'll Never Walk Alone' detailing on the cuff of the sleeves to represent the bond between the fans.

On the back of the shirt, the 97-emblem and the eternal flames sit on the neck in memory of the fans who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster.

A kit reveal video was released by the club to announce the new shirt, with Jurgen Klopp featuring alongside a host of first-team stars, including Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool Women's manager Matt Beard also makes an appearance with several of his players, as well as Scouse musician Kieo and local boxing star Natasha Jonas, whilst the band Stone supply the soundtrack.

Speaking about the new kit, captain Henderson explained: “We’re all so proud to wear the Liverpool FC jersey and be part of the swoosh family. We know exactly what this jersey means to our fans, and we can’t wait to run out in it at Anfield.”

Will Liverpool complete the quadruple this season? Let us know in the comments section below.

The kit is sustainable, with both on-pitch and replica jerseys made with 100% recycled polyester fabric, using plastic bottles.

Those bottles are collected, cleaned and melted down to be used in the manufacturing process as part of kit supplier Nike's Move to Zero initiative and in line with Liverpool's The Red Way push.

On the back of the shirt, a new design for the name and number has been produced, the first time Liverpool have changed this since the start of the 2018/19 season.

The new design has taken inspiration from the city of Liverpool, with a fresh take on the city's historic street signs, and will be seen on the back of the shirts during European and cup matches.

If Liverpool are successful in their pursuit of a historic quadruple this season, then the shirt sleeves would also feature an updated sleeve badge in the Champions League, reflecting what would be their seventh triumph in the competition.

Klopp's side have already won the League Cup this season and are second in the league as they prepare for the finals of both the FA Cup and Champions League later this month.
