Liverpool starlet who signed in summer finally plays first game – and scores too

A Liverpool starlet who joined last season's Premier League runners-up in the summer has finally made an appearance for the club.

Calvin Ramsay joined the Reds during the summer transfer window from Aberdeen after the 19-year-old wowed Klopp and his team during his breakout season north of the border which saw him feature 33 times.

Despite it looking as though he would be on the cusp of the first team when he arrived, the full-back has struggled since joining the club for £6.5m, with the club initially describing the youngster's injury as minor.

The Scot was found to be injured when he joined, and after a long three months for the exciting defender, he has finally taken to the pitch in Liverpool colours after the club took a cautious approach.

Ramsay was brought off the bench in Liverpool U21s' 3-2 defeat to away Accrington Stanley in the Papa Johns Trophy and played 27 minutes for Barry Lewtas' side, even scoring a consolation goal for his side when he linked up with another Scottish starlet, 16-year-old Ben Doak.

Although it wasn't the Liverpool debut he will have dreamt of, the defender has given Liverpool fans a glimmer of what could come in the future, with Trent Alexander-Arnold not shying away from goals and assists, it looks as though the Merseyside team could have themselves another gem.

“I’m just buzzing and it’s a dream come true really to be here,” Ramsay told the club’s official site after signing: “It was a dream come true to play for Aberdeen, and now to be at one of the biggest, if not the biggest club in the world, it’s a massive achievement and I’m looking forward to trying to show the fans what I’ve got."
