Liverpool are looking to continue building their momentum from the end of a nighmare 2020/21 season by bringing in some new faces over the summer.
The Reds managed to salvage Champions League football on the last day of the Premier League season despite injuries to defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
And it has given Jurgen Klopp a boost as he looks to bolster the squad with talent in order to get back on the same level as champions Manchester City.
They have got going for the summer already with the arrival of Ibrahima Konate, the 21-year-old defender who was secured for £36m from RB Leipzig.
But the Reds are not done yet, with other deals in the pipeline – and Daily Star Sport has summarised the headlines you need to know…
Reds ‘starts talks’ with Calhanoglu
One of the biggest transfer priorities for Liverpool this summer will be filling the box-to-box midfielder gap left by the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum.
But AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu may go a long way to achieving it, scoring nine goals and making 12 assists to attract the attention of rivals Manchester United.
And Italian outlet CalcioMercato have reported that the Reds have ‘started talks’ with the 27-year-old, who is out of contract next month, and his agent.
No offer has been made yet but Klopp may have to get a move on as Qatari side Al-Duhail have also made a ‘very lucrative offer’.
Fabinho ‘progress’ being made
While recruitment is one half of the battle this summer, the Reds also need to lock down star players such as their Brazilian defensive midfielder into new contracts.
The 27-year-old will have just two years left on his deal at the start of the summer – but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that positive steps are being taken.
Talks between the club and Fabinho are ‘now progressing into negotiations’, with the midfielder ‘open to a stay and extending his agreement’.
He may be hoping that new defender Konate, though, can take the slack at centre-back, having been forced to step in 24 times last season.
Hammers to win Daka race
With Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield still uncertain, Klopp has been involved in the race for Red Bull Salzburg’s latest scoring sensation Patson Daka.
The 22-year-old Zambian has scored 34 goals and made 12 assists at the front of the Austrian team’s line after inheriting Erling Haaland’s role.
Despite admitting to BBC he is a Liverpool fan, Zambia Football have reported that West Ham are leading the race with a £25m deal set to be completed.
And Daka already has a connection to the London Stadium, with former Hammers forward Freddie Kanoute as the youngster’s agent.
