Liverpool have started talks with a player who was set to replace Manchester United’s in-bound target Jadon Sancho.
The Reds are looking to bolster their attacking options as they try to make up ground on Manchester City, Chelsea and the Red Devils.
It has seen them enter negotiations with former Arsenal academy star and PSV man Donyell Malen – who was being eyed up by Borussia Dortmund.
Another player also being considered is PSG star Kylian Mbappe, who has reportedly told the French side he wants to leave.
Real Madrid were expected to be big competition – but they have made a decision that could pave the way for the Anfield side to pursue to the forward.
These stories, as well as huge double blow in their bid to replace Georginio Wijnaldum, form the focus of Daily Star Sport’s Liverpool transfer round-up.
Liverpool start Malen talks
Despite boasting Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Jurgen Klopp would still like more attacking options this summer.
And Sky Sports Germany have reported that they have ‘started talks’ with PSV forward Malen, having scored 27 goals in all competitions last season at 22 years old.
Having arrived from the Gunners’ academy in 2017, his value has rocketed over the last three seasons as the Reds can expect to pay £34m.
They could face competition from Dortmund, though, who have been monitoring the man who featured in Holland’s Euro 2020 win against North Macedonia for a long time.

Reds receive Mbappe boost
One of the world’s most exciting talents has expressed a desire to leave PSG, with Liverpool known to have an interest in the Frenchman.
With a year still left on the 22-year-old’s deal, the £100m-plus expected fee is expected to be a challenge – but there was also the interest from European rivals Real.
Reports earlier this week, though, said that the Spanish giants were chasing a move for Dortmund’s Erling Haaland instead.
And the Liverpool Echo have suggested that PSG will not be keen to let Mbappe leave for free next season, all pointing towards a Reds transfer.
Wijnaldum replacement double blow
While Mbappe could be heading out of Paris, Liverpool’s former Dutch midfielder has decided to head to the Parc des Princes next season.
It had seen them enquire about Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus, with Liverpool reportedly starting talks with both.
But transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said on his Here We Go podcast that “nothing is going on” with either of the deals.
